Gary Frey: Silence the Imposter: 7 Weapons to Silence Imposter Syndrome
An accomplished CEO with over 10,000 W-2 employees told me, “Gary, I don’t know what I’m doing.” When I questioned why she would say that, having had a successful exit from another company & knowing the phenomenal culture, results, and breakthroughs in her industry that she pioneered, she said, “I only have a two-year secretarial degree.” Shortly after that brief conversation, I realized that nearly every CEO I’ve coached, served, or confided in me has wrestled with those thoughts of not being good enough, in over their heads, and even feeling like a fraud. That is when I decided to write “Silence the Imposter: 7 Weapons to Silence Imposter Syndrome” and speak about it—especially to business leaders. I wanted to drag imposter syndrome out of the dark corners into the light so others could avoid the decades of tormenting thoughts I had along my “I planned, and God laughed” journey of running four companies, doing two turnarounds, and holding senior roles in two Fortune 500 companies. This program gets into imposter syndrome traits, how to silence it effectively, and how to embrace the uniqueness of yourself and others.
Value to Member
Based on recent estimations, over 70% of the population deals with imposter syndrome to one degree or another. It is especially prevalent in high-achieving individuals. If you can relate (or believe you have loved ones or team members who can), this engaging, highly practical, and vulnerable program is for you. In the session, we’ll dive into each of the seven weapons, relatable (and vulnerable) stories, and practical applications of these weapons that participants can begin utilizing the same day. The “Thrive/Wither” exercise (Weapon #2) will be conducted during the session as it has proven to be one of the most effective tools I’ve ever used in helping ensure that teams “get the right people in the right seats on the bus” in their organizations."
Testimonials
“Gary Frey is the real deal. His “Silence the Imposter” talk is a look in your own mirror and can benefit anyone who watches it. I recommend you hire Gary to your corporate event or annual meetings for a thought-provoking, impactful, and amazing talk.” – Jeffrey Gitomer, New York Times Best-Selling Author
“I’ve heard and promoted hundreds of speakers in the last thirty years plus. The one common denominator that I have found makes the difference between those that were good, and those that were great, was their ability to connect with the audience because the audience felt like they were speaking directly to them individually. Gary Frey is one of those rare speakers who possesses that ability. The first time I heard him speak, I was impressed and inspired by his courage to be transparent.
He is humble, giving, and honest in his delivery. Imposter Syndrome is not just a cliché subject for Gary, he's lived it.” – Emilio Antonio Guevara, Founder & CEO, Enyada Inc.
“As I heard Gary Frey talk about stories where he was not authentic and he was letting the imposter syndrome creep in, it was so clear to me the many times in my life I was not being authentic. Once named, it’s easier to recognize when you are doing it and correct the mindset and then and only then does freedom come. You begin to truly live when you can let out your authenticity. His delivery is upbeat, and you can’t help but engage. I always leave his talks empowered and hopeful.” – Tana
