Gary Frey: Silence the Imposter: 7 Weapons to Silence Imposter Syndrome

An accomplished CEO with over 10,000 W-2 employees told me, “Gary, I don’t know what I’m doing.” When I questioned why she would say that, having had a successful exit from another company & knowing the phenomenal culture, results, and breakthroughs in her industry that she pioneered, she said, “I only have a two-year secretarial degree.” Shortly after that brief conversation, I realized that nearly every CEO I’ve coached, served, or confided in me has wrestled with those thoughts of not being good enough, in over their heads, and even feeling like a fraud. That is when I decided to write “Silence the Imposter: 7 Weapons to Silence Imposter Syndrome” and speak about it—especially to business leaders. I wanted to drag imposter syndrome out of the dark corners into the light so others could avoid the decades of tormenting thoughts I had along my “I planned, and God laughed” journey of running four companies, doing two turnarounds, and holding senior roles in two Fortune 500 companies. This program gets into imposter syndrome traits, how to silence it effectively, and how to embrace the uniqueness of yourself and others.
