Tina VanSteenbergen

Tina VanSteenbergen

I learned too late in my life that women need women. To be successful in the workplace. To feel understood. To help us believe in ourselves. To feel less alone in the world. Women need women. Women deserve strong communities full of empathy, kindness, and empowerment at work, at home, and literally everywhere in their lives. That’s where I come in.

I help women tear down the walls built between us. My speaking style gives women permission to open up, have honest conversations, and connect. With a combination of authenticity, storytelling, and humor, I’ve been able to help hundreds of thousands of women build relationships with one another, believe in themselves, and take up space at companies, campuses, and organizations around North America.

My work sets my soul on fire. So does a good nap. An excellent pour of bourbon. A beautiful snow. A peaceful and reflective sunset flight. An episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race. A perfectly green avocado. The skyline of New York City. A warm and cheesy mac n’ cheese. A well-written West Wing quote. My husband, my son, and a Minnesotan accent, of course.

Climbing the Mountain: Confidence and Empowerment for Women
Do you feel confident? Do you feel proud or empowered? The truth is, many of us don’t–instead, we feel isolated, disconnected, and not very confident in ourselves. We want to feel genuinely confident in ourselves. We want to feel truly connected to others. But between work, kids, parents, friendships, family, relationships, finding time to eat and needing to sleep every few days, is it even possible? Yes, it is possible! In this session, we’ll learn and practice actual women’s empowerment strategies that you can take back to your real lives. We deserve to feel confident and connected, even if it does take a bit of climbing to get there.

What Are You Sorry For?: Taking Up More Space in the World
Have you ever felt like you were too emotional? Too loud? Too dramatic, too big, or just too much? Do you apologize for it? For everything? We have been conditioned to shrink ourselves, to say ‘sorry,’ and to take up less space. But what if you, your emotions, opinions, or body, are not a problem? The expectations placed upon women are the problems here. The solution? To find the audacity to take up your space in this world–without apology!

Community Over Competition: Women’s Relationships in the Workplace
Ask anyone what happens when women work together, and they’ll list for you every stereotype: ‘Women are mean!’ ‘They’re so competitive!’ ‘Women are catty!’ This stereotype is frustrating for many of us to hear, especially because women are no more wired for competitive or destructive behavior than anyone else. And. Most of us could tell a story that is directly in line with one of these stereotypes. Why is that? In this session, we’ll explore the research done about women in the workplace, and practice strategies to ensure that in both community and behavior we continue to defy this stereotype.
